CHILDREN INHERIT THE EARTH
As a family business, we realise that our children should be able to enjoy our planet for a long time to come. To safeguard their future and that of the earth, sustainability is one of our top priorities. Thanks to recent developments, more and more innovative, sustainable alternatives are available to us.
In our laboratory, we are continuously focussed on developing more sustainable concepts and products. Yet, we don't just pay attention to our production process and products. The people behind our products are equally important, because without our employees, Havo couldn't exist.
Below, you'll read how we are moving step by step toward a more sustainable future together.
Product
In both product and packaging, we use raw materials that are not harmful to the environment: from eco-bottles and buckets made of recycled materials to poster paints made of 98% naturally sourced ingredients. When additives are needed to ensure product quality and safety, we always choose the responsible option. In addition, none of our products contain animal products. That way, everyone can enjoy our products with a clear conscience. Read more about the ingredients of our products here.
Production
Thanks to heat recovery installations, we use the warmth our machines produce to preheat the process water. To supply our machines with the energy they need, we have hundreds of solar panels mounted on our factory roofs. With our production, storage, and distribution all at one location, we avoid unnecessary transport and, thus, unnecessary pollution. Besides that, we manufacture a substantial part of our packaging material in-house with injection moulding and blow moulding machines, reducing transport even further.
People
We build lasting relationships with our employees. Everyone get the opportunity to learn more, develop themselves further and find their ideal place in our company. To facilitate that, we participate in personal development trainings for example. We maintain lasting and personal relationships with our clients as well. This way, we bring out the best in each other!
From sugar cane to green plastic
Plastic lasts forever. The lifespan is one of the important reasons by the material became so popular. We now know how polluting plastic is: from production, where fossil fuels are used, to the moment that it becomes waste. It is important that we reduce the use of this type of plastic.
For our Creall Eco colour we thus chose a bioplastic bottle. Bioplastic is a renewable material made from organic material that can regrow. The bioplastic with which we blow the Eco colour bottles is produced by Braskem in Brazil. They use their farmland to grow sugar cane. Protected nature reserves and forests are therefore preserved.
When sugar cane is processed into sugar, a by-product called molasses is created. Instead of putting the molasses with the waste, this part is also very useful. Bioethanol is made from the molasses that is used:
- To produce biogas
- As fertiliser
- For industrial purposes, such as the production of bioplastic
- As fuel
- To brew rum
The Braskem bioplastic from the molasses of sugar cane has a negative CO2 footprint and makes us less dependent on fossil fuels. Packaging materials made of bioplastic, such as the Creall Eco colour bottle, are 100% recyclable. We thus advise everyone to recycle this material, because this plastic should also not land in nature and can be reused.
